Are you wondering to yourself, Is Blu-ray better than DVD? Maybe you want to update your home theater and are wondering if you should invest in a Blu-ray machine. Maybe your friends are all talking about how awesome their Blu-ray machines are. Or maybe you see your favorite movies and TV shows being advertised as available on Blu-ray and you want to know what all the fuss is about.

Comparing Blu-ray and DVD is like comparing regular television with high definition (HD), which is what Blu-ray is. If you’ve never seen a picture in HD, you don’t know what you’re missing! The pictures are so crisp and clear and there is so much detail involved that some actors and actresses have actually complained about the facial defects you can see in high definition! Some production facilities even use special lighting to help soften the look of what is being filmed because of high definition. But if you’re watching a sports game or anything else in HD, you may wonder how you ever lived without it! You pick up on details you never imagined and feel as if you’re actually part of the action, not just watching it on a screen. Colors are crisper and even the smallest of details come through.

Think of pictures taken with pocket cameras twenty years ago versus the pictures you get with digital cameras now, and you may have an idea of how that detail and crispness is important. You just can’t go back to regular television and movie viewing once you’ve had high definition. So, is Blu-ray better than DVD; absolutely yes!

Is it possible to use a DVD home theater system as a PC sound receiver?

My current computer speaker's receiver stopped working. Instead of buying a new receiver i was wondering if it is somehow possible to use a DVD home theater system (Sony HT-C800DP) as the receiver? Is there any special cords i need to connect it to my computer? My computer has no special outputs for the player.
